Dear Parents/Carers
It has been another busy week at Appleton Wiske with lots of learning going on inside and outside the classroom.
We are enjoying our Celebration Assemblies every Friday – join us at 2:30pm in the school hall if you would like to
celebrate with the children.
ATTENDANCE
Our whole school attendance is currently 95.8%. Please remember that holiday requests will not be authorised.
Thank you for your support. Our fortnightly attendance award is very popular with the children – well done to
Class 1 for winning the award.
GOVERNING BODY
We have an active and supportive Governing Body. If you would like to know more about the work of the
Governing Body, please get in touch with Mr Clark who will be happy to arrange a meeting with our Chair of
Governors – Scott Wilson. We are looking for Associate Governors to help support the school and its work – we
would love to hear from you. Thank you.
FRIENDS OF THE SCHOOL
The next Friends meeting is on Thursday 3rd November at 6:00pm in the Lord Nelson. Everybody is welcome and
we would really like to hear from anybody who is willing to help out this year. Thank you.
WILDLIFE AREA
A massive thank you to Josh Ring and his family for preparing the wildlife area for another year. Roger and
Rosy Key, who you may remember helped set up the wildlife area a few years ago, were also part of the group on
Saturday who prepared the area. It was a huge task and we really appreciate everybody’s hard work.
YEAR 5/6 QUICKSTICKS TOURNAMENT
Well done to our Year 5/6 hockey team for finishing in 2nd place at the Quicksticks tournament on Tuesday. The
team were a credit to our school and played with great sportsmanship and positive attitudes. Congratulations to
Charlie, Edward, Erin, Ewan, Josh and Poppy.
FOREST SCHOOL
On Tuesday, the children in Reception and Year 1 enjoyed their first Forest School session of the year. Thank you
to the staff who ran the session and a special thank you to Ken Blackwood for providing support on the day as well
as getting the learning environment ready for the children.
